Solving social problems via soc-ctte
Does a social pendant to the tec-ctte make sense?
Since several years at DebConfs is stated that we have more social than technical problems inside Debian. A soc-ctte might be a means to tackle those problems.
While the Debian project grows in different dimensions (number of involved people - not only developers, number of packages, number of architectures, number of machines running Debian services, number of bugs, number of users, number of derivatives, number of attendees of Debconf) we found several means to cope with the technical changes this continuosely growing numbers are requiring. The technical solutions in most cases are working with some minor exceptions. If there is no agreement about a technical issue Debian has a technical committee that has the task to sort it out.
While we were able to solve most technical problems in an acceptable way we are facing some social problems that show up again and again on mailing lists. Most times these threads will end in flame wars - some of them will be managed by a low flaming rate. But very view of these discussions end in a constructive solution. THe idea is to implement a social committee which has the task to sort out such problems and moderate between different parties.
